The Close Shave of Electric Shavers

By Elio Shiavera

The majority of men would rather use an electric shaver. The reason for this is simply that the electric shaver won't cause all of the cuts and nicks that the standard razor will cause. Shaver blades can be very tricky, and can adversely effect your appearance if you are not careful.

Electric shavers come in the plug in type, or the rechargeable type so that there is no annoying cord to have to deal with. They also come with a huge amount of different electric shaver blade types. Some are triple headed, double headed, and of course single headed shaver blades. You will also have to decide on whether you wish to have a foil razor or a rotating one.

First, a foil is the part that protects the face from the sharp shaver blades. A foil has holes in it that allow the whiskers to protrude through it in order to allow the blade to do its proper job.

For a very close shave, the rotating head is a great idea. They match up with the different curves and contours of your face making sure that you have the closest shave possible. The only problem that you will find with this type of blade is that you eventually find yourself tasked with the chore of cleaning it. This can prove to be very difficult, and it is something that you need to be prepared for. Side to side blades are a great choice, though they might cause you some pain if you don't shave every day. Long hair simply is not ideal for this type of blade!

Triple rotary blades are also a great choice. They likely have floating heads and are able to keep up with the contours on your face. Naturally this will give you a very close shave. They won't yank out your hairs either, so this is likely the best choice for most people.

For those who have more of a medium set of whiskers, the single foil shaver blades come highly recommended. They won't give a close shave, but that's great for someone that happens to have sensitive skin.

Obviously, as in all appliances, the fancier the electric razor is, the more it will cost. Some of the newer accouterments added to electric razors include a self-cleaning electric shaver blade types, quick charge, lotion dispensers, travel case, cleaning base kits, beard trimmers, low battery lights, multi-plugs for travel out of the country, and even wet-dry capabilities.

It stands to reason that if you are not a traveler, for instance, then purchasing one with all the different plugs for traveling outside the US is a waste of money. On the other hand, if the man you are purchasing the razor for travels a lot, he will not only appreciate those plugs, but they are in essence a vital necessity. - 30305
