What Not To Do For Hair Loss?

By Erica Mate

If you are suffering from hair loss, what's the first thing that comes to mind ? It's sheer panic isn't it ?

You want to stop it whatever it takes, dont you? But believe me most of the time its not the most expensive product that will help

When I began to write this article it was raining outside again as usual. I can't speak for other people but this always tends to get me down somewhat. I don't want to go out in the rain and I get a little depressed.

Some of my customers have asked me whether depression can cause hair loss. Well yes, maybe it can contribute at least. Any kind of depression or long term anxiety can lead to health problems of one sort or another and might be manifest as hair loss. However depression is not by any means the only thing.

So, before you start popping the antidepressant pills why not take some time to investigate other possible factors that can cause hair loss. You might need to go a little deeper to find the real reason

You can save a whole lot of frustration, money and time that you would spend otherwise on products that are very good and dandy but they wont solve the real cause of hair loss. Ok, what are the causes?

One of the reasons for hair loss could be the hair colouring. If you do it at home you have to be carefully check the ingredients of the product. If its full of chemicals than obviously it could be a very good reason for hair loss, but not severe hair loss, but it can cause split ends though.

If you think you are losing more hair than you used to, if you find more hair on your pillow, then you should see your doctor to check on your thyroid. A simple blood test can show whether the thyroid is under or over active. A lack of proper function of the thyroid can have knock-on effects on your general health and can be behind lack of hair growth or hair loss.

If your thyroid is fine then it might be worth your while to visit a dermatologist as of course, the scalp is the skin of the head and can suffer from diseases in the same way.. Certainly do this if you are experiencing any symptoms such as itching or burning.

One of my customers said once that she thinks that she losing hair because of the hair straightening. I truly dont believe that it can cause hair loss but if you do it often it might.

To be honest MISUSING the hair straightening iron can be really dangerous because your hair can take the heat, and then it will just cause breakage and than hair loss.

But if you use the right products it can definitely help. So if you wanna find the real cause of the problem you have to exclude the following:

- iron shortage

- scalp disorders

- scalp disorders

If you have been able to dismiss all of these factors it should be easier to find the correct treatment, something that will actually work, instead of you having had to spend a lot of money for nothing.

It's a bit like taking sleeping pills to cure headaches. They might allow you to sleep but will they cure your headaches?
