Hair Straightener Tips To Keep In Mind

By Eliza Melzono

Hair straighteners are a hot item these days, with the desire for a sleek and smooth hair style being the popular look. Here are some tips to follow if you're considering using a hair straightener.

Dry your hair before putting in the straighteners.

Wash your hair using all the normal shampoos and conditioners, afterward apply the serum via your hands. Spread it along the length of your hair smoothing it in. Most products sold by salons will work much better than the cheaper normal store bought brands.

Turn on the straighteners so they can warm up, then begin drying your hair, using a paddle brush to encourage the hair to straighten. When you're ready to use the hair straightener, remember to pull it through the hair in one fluid motion, being careful not to stop while doing so.

Don't get into a hurry, especially if you are a beginner.

It will take some time to get the style that you want, and taking your time to get the hang of it will help you to get it right. If you pace yourself and take the time to get it right the first few times you use the straightener, it will make it easier and quicker in the long run to get the results you want.

Always be sure it is what you wanted in the end.

One thing to bear in mind when using a hair straightener is to be consistent, and make sure that the style matches all over the hair. Be sure to have access to a mirror so that you can examine the back of your hair for any possible flaws or places that you might have missed. If you have some sections of hair that aren't straight like the rest, simply go back over then with the hair straightener.

It can take multiple tries to get some of the hard to reach spots on the back of your head to lay down correctly. It's best to complete the style by blending together the ends. Use the straighteners without using clips to prevent them from separating.

Hair straighteners are very hot, so be careful not to burn yourself!

If you find it difficult using a hair straightener by yourself, or you keep burning your fingers, talk to someone from your salon and see if they can give you some tips or hints on how to use it safely. Even your hair can become so hot that it burns you if you should touch it, so be sure to give it time to cool after each swipe with the straightener. - 30305
