Here's Something You Probably Didn't Know About Beyonce

By David Haskins

Beyonce is gigantic. She's a massive global star, regularly tops the billboard charts with new singles, and has managed a solo trajectory after her group success that is an inspiration for anyone trying to breakout on her own.

She's also stunningly gorgeous, and a standard-bearer of glamour. So far, she's proven really versatile in what she chooses carry when it comes to her wardrobe and styling--from vintage 1960s looks right up to the most recent in contemporary style.

One Large Piece of it all is Simply Just Beyonce's Style

No secret has been made of her ability to change back and forth through various style movements--in fact, she released a double album that was cut into 2: her 'Sasha Fierce' side has a markedly changed personality from the normal 'B' the public is accustomed to.

It's tough to change from one style to another one 100% its antithesis without doing something radical with your hair. And looking at all the last couple of iterations of Beyonce, from the afro-ed 1970s singer of 'Work it Out' to the buckets of fashions she moved through in 'Dreamgirls' to her current fashions, you could be wondering how she can do so many crazily changing hairdos.

Yep: A Not-So-Hidden Secret That Beyonce Knowles Uses Lace Wigs.

The fact is, there's no way a large amount of what she wears is Beyonce's actual hair. Not only can the shorter actual hair of hers not be styled into the spectrum of styles she often flips through, but nobody's organic hair can hold up against that number of drastic changes without showing some proper damage.

So what is a worldwide gigantic star to do? Use lace wigs, actually. But here's a trick: the lace wigs don't look bad, and neither are they overly visible. It's because it's not possible to move between those styles, that Beyonce sports lace wigs. And so we've noticed: the lace wigs look incredible.

Beyonce is Actually Reaching Into the Past to a Great Tradition.

Next to that, Beyonce is actually hearkening backwards to a long tradition of musicians wearing wigs. Of course, there have been a few like Cher, who have forever been flashy and linked with differing measures of over-the-top clothing, but there have come before many foremothers of Beyonce--just pick Patti LaBelle, for example--who have helped make wig-wearing an acknowledged and crucial chapter in the history of fashion.

Whatever Taboos That Existed About Them Are No More.

Lace wigs aren't much of an issue today. Any type of shame that was around about sporting them has fundamentally vanished. Ages ago, there existed a strange connection between wigs and illness, and obviously a top wig will always be greatly useful for anybody going through the harshness of chemo.

But lace wigs have come past this context, although they are still remaining in wide use for therapeutic reasons. Thanks to the always-connected spirit of postmodern style, any sort of 'look' is immediately available. The speedy dissemination of themes has also signified that pastiche or a collage of styles has become much more common. Wigs are simply another tool that enable the big new rainbow of styles - 30305
