Risk Free Hair Straightening: Beat the Split Ends!

By Erica Mate

If you do hair straightening at home it can be very harmful to your hair, unless you take into account the following secrets

It could be very annoying when youre not 100% sure that the way you treat your hair is the best for it, isnt it?

If you are using a straightening iron in the wrong way it can badly damage the hair, particularly at the ends, so correct use is essential. After all, you dont want to lose your fabulous hair, do you ?

Im going to tell you exactly what to do to prevent your hair from damages caused by improper use of hair straightening tools and lack of protection.

The first essential is to have good tools. If you are going to straighten your hair often then you should have good tools. A ceramic straightener is best, and for drying you need a good quality dryer with not only adequate heat output, but also a strong blowing action. Regular blow drying tends to dry out the hair so a weekly treatment of a product to prevent frizzled ends is a good idea.

Regular deep conditioning of the hair will help to give it a healthier bounce and shine. A recommended product for this is called Bonacure Q10 by Schwazkopf.

After straightening you should use good detangling products and a wide-toothed comb. For the sake of good hair its a good idea to have it trimmed every month and to drink plenty of water.

How to prepare your hair for the straightening? Always use a protective product when styling your hair straight. The best for this in my opinion is Osis Slick flattening liquid and the Osis Flatliner. Once out of the shower, wring hair out until it doesnt drip anymore, then dry as much as possible with a towel.

After showering or washing your hair, wring it out to remove a lot of the water, and then towel dry as much as possible.

Apply a little of the straightening liquid before blow drying and in between drying with the towel. Its best to blow dry your hair by taking it one section at a time whilst using a flat brush. It might take a while to master the art of good hair straightening but its well worth it.
